Why Cape San Blas Sunsets Are Unforgettable
Cape San Blas enjoys a unique geographic position that makes for truly spectacular sunset viewing. The peninsula juts out into the Gulf of Mexico, offering unobstructed western views where the sun appears to sink directly into the emerald waters. Unlike crowded tourist beaches, here you can often enjoy this nightly show in peaceful solitude or with just your family.
- Unobstructed Gulf Views - No high-rises or structures blocking the horizon
- Pristine, Uncrowded Beaches - Watch in peace without the crowds
- Year-Round Beauty - Every season offers stunning sunset displays
- Perfect Photography - Minimal light pollution creates vivid colors
- Romantic Setting - Ideal for couples, proposals, and special moments
Cape San Blas Beach Bonfire Rules
Great news for bonfire lovers: Gulf County allows beach bonfires for free—no permit required! Unlike neighboring Bay County (Panama City Beach) where permits cost $50+, Cape San Blas welcomes beach bonfires with just a few common-sense rules:
- 100-Foot Rule - Keep your fire at least 100 feet from any structure, boardwalk, or building
- Natural Wood Only - No pallets, pressure-treated wood, or wood with nails/screws
- Location - Build closer to the waterline than the dunes; avoid vegetation
- Attended at All Times - Never leave your fire unattended while lit
- Same-Day Cleanup - All remnants must be completely extinguished and removed
- Leave No Trace - Remove all trash from the beach per Gulf County ordinance
- Turtle Season Awareness - Be mindful during sea turtle nesting season (May 1 – October 31)
